01 · Application

Where the PQWT-L50 fits

The L50 helps an operator compare leak-related sound and vibration along a known or suspected pipe route. It is intended for pressurized water pipes concealed beneath floors or inside building structures where a compact contact and surface-listening workflow is practical.

The instrument does not see through a wall or automatically mark a repair point. A useful result comes from comparing several points, narrowing the interval and checking whether the strongest signal is repeatable and consistent with the actual pipe layout.

  • Domestic and commercial kitchens and bathrooms
  • Concealed supply lines beneath tile, screed and flooring
  • Accessible valves, fittings and pipe contact points
  • Pre-repair screening after unexplained water loss or pressure drop
02
02 · Detection workflow

Use General Detection first, then Locating mode

Charge the host, connect the sensor before switching on and confirm the pipe route, material, pressure and likely branch. Reduce controllable background noise. Use the triangular sensor on most indoor floor surfaces; use the square sensor where a wall, cabinet or narrow contact area prevents stable triangular-sensor placement.

In General Detection mode, keep gain, volume, contact pressure and measuring interval consistent while screening the route. When a stable sound or spectrum change appears, shorten the spacing and switch to Locating mode. Compare the 16 point bars at adjacent positions; a candidate area should remain stronger through repeated measurements from both directions.

  • Connect the selected sensor and headphones before starting
  • Establish a quiet reference point away from the suspected leak
  • Screen at regular intervals without changing settings between points
  • Narrow the spacing around a repeatable change and compare nearby controls
  • Repeat the suspected point, then verify with pressure, flow or moisture evidence
03
03 · Site limitations

Pipe material, pressure and noise affect the result

Rigid metal pipe often carries sound farther than PVC, PPR or other plastic pipe. Low pressure, small leaks, flexible material, soft construction layers and background machinery can weaken or mask the signal.

If no stable acoustic evidence is available, recheck the route and operating condition rather than increasing gain indefinitely. Pressure testing, thermal inspection or tracer gas may be more suitable for difficult sites.

04
04 · Care, charging & support

Prepare the instrument for repeatable field work

Keep sensor contact faces clean and dry, avoid impacts and do not disconnect accessories by pulling the cable. Charge with the stated 5 V, 2 A supply in a dry area. The listed working-time figure depends on battery condition, volume, display use and temperature.

The standard warranty is two years. The formal quotation confirms the supplied sensors, accessories, warranty terms, remote operating support, shipping method and destination-specific package.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the PQWT-L50 used for?+

It is a compact acoustic water leak detector for comparative listening on concealed pressurized pipes in kitchens, bathrooms, floors and similar building environments.

Which sensors are supplied with the L50?+

The listed configuration includes triangular and square sensor options. The final packing list and accessories are confirmed in the formal quotation.

Can the L50 detect leaks in plastic pipes?+

It can be used for acoustic checks, but plastic attenuates sound more than rigid metal. Pressure, leak size, construction depth and noise strongly affect results, and another method may be required.

Does the detector show the exact leak point automatically?+

No. The operator compares multiple readings, narrows the area and verifies repeatable evidence before repair work.

What should I send for a quotation?+

Provide pipe material, diameter, depth, pressure, surface type, suspected area, destination country and required quantity.

How long does the battery work and charge?+

The listed operating time is up to 15 hours under stated conditions. Charging is approximately 7–8 hours with a 5 V, 2 A USB supply; actual time varies with battery condition and use.

Is the PQWT-L50 covered by warranty?+

The standard warranty is two years. The formal quotation confirms the exact package, warranty terms, remote guidance and after-sales arrangements.
